Who We Are

The Silver Sound String Quartet is an outstanding professional ensemble that Kansans have relied upon since its inception in 2000. We have played hundreds of weddings and receptions, each with music personally selected by or tailored to suit the Bride and Groom.
Music sets the tone of your day and expresses the emotion and beauty of its creation. When we agree to play for your special event, you will have peace of mind knowing that the music will be taken care of for you without further worry, will reflect your taste, will please your guests, and be of the highest professional quality. Composed of the traditional combination of two violins, a viola and a cello, members of Silver Sound have sudied at well-known music schools in addition to playing with the Wichita Symphony, & have had extensive experience performing in many different situations, including solo recitals by individual members. The For Weddings String Quartet has played in locations as varied as outdoor venues like Prairie Pines and Nativity Pines to the Marlin Mansion in Ponca City, OK.

Wedding Information

How much music do you provide when you play at weddings? Our Quartet allows up to an hour and a quarter for most weddings, beginning with up to thirty minutes of music prior to the ceremony. If you like, we will include special pieces for seating the parents, as well as the processionals for the wedding party and the Bride. We often have been asked to play during the ceremony (such as for a quiet moment of meditation or the lighting of a Unity candle) and this is included. Following the ceremony, the quartet would play whatever jubilant music you select for the recessional, followed by a postlude selection while the guests depart, so the ceremony has balance—starting and ending with music for your guests.

Additional Information

Many couples like to add a vocalist for a special song, a trumpet for the pro-and recessional marches, or have an organist provide the Bride's processional music, while others are happy for the quartet to provide all the music. If you are unsure as to what types of music are appropriate for your setting, our manager will meet with you personally and talk you through your event step by step. Our repertoire encompasses genres from classical to popular, so there are many styles to choose from. We additionally will perform special requests for a small additional fee if the selection is not already in our repertoire. We are happy to work with other musicians and will even help you find them for you. Our quartet books as much as two years in advance, please call today for availability.
